Vector Technics expands capacity to 300,000 units annually

Vector Technics, a subsidiary of zen technologies , has expanded its manufacturing capacity to 300,000 propulsion units annually at its Shamshabad facility. The Hyderabad-based deep-tech manufacturer confirmed it is now the only Indian company that designs and builds every component of the propulsion stack in-house, covering both electric and internal-combustion propulsion. This expansion addresses a strategic dependency where up to 80% of motors and controllers in Indian drones previously traced back to Chinese-origin channels.

The company’s proprietary stack includes BLDC motors, speed controllers, propellers, power electronics, IC engines, and starter-generators. Vector Technics emphasized that its products contain no Chinese parts or imported firmware, with every unit validated against three NABL-accredited thrust benchmarks before shipping. The components are already deployed on frontline Indian defence programs.

Propulsion stack components

Component Description
Electric motors BLDC series for FPV, tactical, heavy-lift cargo, fixed-wing long-range and VTOL platforms. Tested to MIL-STD-810G.
IC engines 60cc, 170cc and 210cc boxer engines for hybrid-VTOL and fixed-wing UAVs.
Starter-generators Built on BLDC core for onboard power generation.
Speed controllers Designed on trusted silicon with domestically developed firmware.
Propellers Carbon-fibre-reinforced polymer for industrial and defence conditions.
Power electronics Distribution boards and DC-DC converters for payloads.

Prudhvi Raj Pakalapati, Co-Founder and CEO of Vector Technics, stated that the company spent seven years developing indigenous capabilities to eliminate reliance on borrowed motors and firmware. He highlighted that the intellectual property resides in the Hyderabad facility, ensuring the supply chain remains secure and auditable under battlefield conditions. Vector Technics serves more than 300 clients across 10 countries.
