Taiwan-based PC maker Acer has announced that it will sign an agreement with the municipal government of Chongqing to build its second Chinese mainland operational headquarters in Chongqing.

With a total investment of USD150 million, Acer plans to increase its annual output of HP brand and Acer brand notebooks to between 80 million and 100 million before 2015. At the same time, the company will establish Chongqing as the largest notebook manufacturing base in Asia.

Prior to this, Acer set up its first operational headquarters on the Chinese mainland in Shanghai. With the support of the new Chongqing headquarters, Acer will make full use of its channel resources gained from the partnership with Founder to explore the Chinese western market and increase its share in the marketplace.

According to statistics from the Chongqing government, the city's demand for computer products has been increasing since China's Western Development Program was implemented. In addition, Chongqing's sales of computers increased by 32% year-on-year in 2009 and its growth rate ranked first on the Chinese mainland.
