After entering the South American market in June 2015, Xiaomi now plans to further expand into the African market by launching Hongmi 2 and Xiaomi 4 in the coming weeks.

However, the Chinese smartphone company will not fight alone in markets like South Africa, Kenya and Nigeria. It will cooperate with Mobile in Africa Group, which will be responsible for smartphone sales, marketing, and post-sales supports in this partnership.

Raymond Tian, Xiaomi's global strategy director, told local media that the company believes Africa is the next growth point for smartphones. They are glad to cooperate with MIA Group to introduce their quality products to consumers in Africa.

Hongmi 2 is targeting the low-end market while Xiaomi 4 is for the medium- and high-end market. Xiaomi said with pricing advantages, those two products will definitely attract more new users.

Xiaomi aims to sell 100 million smartphones in 2015. Earlier this year, the company claimed that their smartphone market share in China had exceeded Apple. However, latest market research reports showed that Xiaomi was beaten by Huawei. To achieve the sales goal of 100 million units, the African business is significant for Xiaomi.
