UTStarcom, Inc., a leading global provider of wireless and wireline access and IP switching solutions, announced that it has been awarded an IP-DSLAM contract with China Netcom Corporation (CNC) to deploy over 200,000 lines of its AN-2000 IB IP-based DSLAM solution in several major cities in the Heilongjiang, Tiangjin, Hebei, Shangdong, and Shanxi Provinces.
The contract brings UTStarcom's total IP-DSLAM deployments with CNC to more than 400,000 ADSL lines within multiple provinces in China since March of 2003.
"This contract continues to exemplify the tremendous demand for DSL services and UTStarcom's leadership in the DSLAM arena in China," said Johnny Chou, chief operating officer of UTStarcom China. "We believe the unique advantage of UTStarcom's IP-based solution will enable CNC to offer its customers such advanced features as the "Triple Play" of voice, data and video over broadband, enabling multiple choices for their customers and new revenue streams for them."
