Eight websites have signed the Self-discipline Convention on Internet Audio and Video Program in Beijing to promote the long-term development of the online audio and video industry and create a good environment for growth of the industry.
The eight websites are people.com.cn, xinhuanet.com, china.com.cn, cctv.com, chinabroadcast.cn, cycnet.com, ce.com and cnr.cn.
The parties say that the spread of online pornography, unhealthy content and pirated programs have seriously harmed the online environment in China as well as the development of the online audio and video service industry. Therefore they suggest they all abide by China's laws, regulations and polices on Internet culture construction and management; not be involved in the spread of such content as violence, porn, gambling, and terrorism that do harm to China's traditional culture; and respect the rights of copyright owners to create a clean and legal online environment.
