NDRC Approves One New Mobile Phone Manufacturer

China's National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) has released a list of the fifth batch of licensed mobile phone manufacturers.

However the list this time contains only one new approved company, Shenzhen Yuyang Technology Company, while HP, which earlier claimed to have obtained a license, does not appear on the list.

NDRC said that the approval of Shenzhen Yuyang was based on the relevant rules and opinions of the government's assessment management departments.

As usual, NDRC reiterated the potential risk of the mobile phone industry when publishing the name list, saying that many mobile phone enterprises were suffering losses in the last year. Heated competition to sell handsets has dropped prices, causing many companies to rethink whether they want to be in the sector.

20 enterprises including Aux, Huawei and Hisense have already been authorized to produce mobile phones in China.
