Menghe Wang has joined PlanGraphics Inc. as a design analyst, the company announced recently. Currently based in Shanghai, China, Wang will be project manager for the national consultant team for the recently awarded urban management information system (UMIS) project in Liaoning Province.
PlanGraphics, founded in 1979, is a full life-cycle systems integration and implementation firm providing a broad range of services in the design and implementation of information technology in the public and commercial sectors. PlanGraphics' experience with spatial information systems and e-services capabilities provides a critical discriminator among other IT consulting and integration firms.
"This represents an additional step in formalizing our activities in China," said Minna Li, PlanGraphics' vice president for international business. "The Liaoning project is a significant assignment, and Menghe's role will ensure that the national consultants are working as an integrated team."
In the course of the project, the PlanGraphics team will prepare a full-scale UMIS for the city of Shenyang, as well as simpler systems for the cities of Panjin and Yingkou. The project also includes a UMIS to be used by the Provincial Construction Bureau. The project will rely heavily on geographic information system (GIS) and Internet technology.
Wang joins PlanGraphics from the Shanghai Inta Information Technology Company, where he was general engineer and director of IT services. He holds a bachelor's degree in aerial photography and remote sensing from the Zhengzhou Surveying & Mapping Institute and a master's degree in engineering surveying and land surveying from Tsinghua University. He also completed two years of doctoral studies in GIS at the Zhengzhou Surveying & Mapping Institute.
