China Unicom Deploys Vyyo's BWA Systems In Two Provinces

January 13, 2004
Telecom & Wireless

Vyyo Inc., a global supplier of wireless broadband end-to-end solutions for wireless telephony and high-speed data connections, today announced that China Unicom, the second largest cellular operator in China, has deployed Vyyo's E1 circuit switched products to drive its broadband wireless access (BWA) in two provinces.

Wuhan Research Institute (WRI) served as the system integrator in Changchun, Jilin and Datang Mobile in Guiyang, Guizhou.

Vyyo's base station and customer premise equipment (CPE) create a multi-service platform which delivers high-speed Internet protocol (IP) data, plain old telephone service (POTS) and E1 services across a single, cohesive vendor platform and radio frequency (RF) infrastructure. The multi-service platform serves voice cafes and cellular backhaul applications while also offering IP services to businesses and Internet cafes.
