Smiths Detection/Smiths Heimann has received a delivery order from the General Administration of Civil Aviation of China (CAAC) for 120 X-ray systems to inspect passenger baggage and freight valued at more than EUR 8 million.

The individual X-ray inspection system types include HI-SCAN 6040 and HI-SCAN 145180 machines, as well as ScanVans and ScanTrailers. The ScanVan and the ScanTrailer systems are mobile solutions, ideal for quick and flexible use in various locations, e.g. in ports, airports, at border crossings or during large public events. They allow integration into a variety of vehicles as to customer request. In the next month these systems will be installed at strategically significant locations within the country and at its borders to enhance passenger security and prevent illegal traffic of goods throughout China.
