Sohu.com announced that this evening at 8:00 PM (Hong Kong/China time) the company will share with investors information regarding the company's recent troubles with China Mobile.
Sohu.com, along with three other mobile service providers, was suspended by China Mobile for one year, starting September 1. The suspension makes it impossible for the company to apply for new value-added services for the first six months and also may take a large bite out of the next four quarters of revenue.
Sohu.com, and other Chinese portals, have long been the focus of complaints from users because sites like Sohu.com had in the past sent unsolicited messages and then charged users for those services. However it wasn't until last week that China Mobile took the consumer complaints seriously, closing down Sohu.com for sending about 1400 unsolicitd mobile messages–a very small amount.
