ChinaUnionPay has today placed a public announcement on its website saying that measures have been taken against the three fake websites that have been stealing bank customers' details.
The three websites are located at www.cnbank-yl.com, www.nihaoqq.com and www.haodx.com/rul/12578.htm and they had been closed yesterday, but this morning they are still active. The owners of the websites have changed the Internet Protocol addresses for those sites, and authorities are currently trying to track down those owners. Authorities say the websites should be closed very soon.
ChinaUnionPay is warning customers who have lost their money to report to the public security bureau or contact ChinaUnionPay to recover the losses.
Yesterday the Bank of China announced that it would not compensate victims caught in similar "phishing" incidents where Bank of China customers lost money and data to online thieves.
