Matsushita Electric Industrial and its subsidiary specializing in the fixed-line communications equipment, Panasonic Communications, has announced the foundation of Panasonic Communications (Dalian) Company, Ltd.

The new company, located in the Dalian Economical and Technological Development Area, Liaoning Province, China, will incorporate the development center for cordless telephones integrating local development and manufacturing operations.

The company will begin cordless telephone and optical disk drive production in October 2005 and copier-based digital multifunction products in 2006. Monthly production targets are 40,000 units for cordless telephones and 80,000 units for optical disk drives for the first fiscal year and 7,000 units for digital multifunction products for fiscal year 2007 ending March 2007.
