Fines of up to 30000CNY might await individuals and businesses who use images of Chinese currency (CNY) online.
Xinhua reports that a draft regulation outlining the use of CNY images on the Internet is currently making its rounds via China's central bank, People's Bank of China.
The report says after obtaining permission to use the CNY images, users are "prohibited from changing the design, tarnishing its image, or taking any act detrimental to state unity or stains Chinese culture."
Users must also place a watermark over at least a third of the image that says "Not For Circulation" and the image can not exceed 125% or be less than 75% of the original currency's size.
Though the fines are high, for non-commercial violations users only face fines of 1000CNY.
