Qinghai-Tibet Railway GSM-R Construction Commences

With yesterday's base construction of the first wireless communications tower for the Qinghai-Tibet Railway, a new mobile communications project has begun.

The communications system consists of three major areas of a trunk line communications system, section communications system and wireless communications system.

The China Railway Electrical Bureau will be responsible for 70% of the project as well as the construction of more than 100 wireless base stations. Upon completion, the Qinghai-Tibet Railway will become the first of its kind in Asia based on GSM-R wireless technologies.
