Kingsoft Regains Lost Domain Names

August 9, 2005
Editorial Staff

Kingsoft has won back, through a purchase and an arbitration, its .CN domain names kingsoft.cn and kingsoft.com.cn.

Kingsoft.com.cn was previously registered by the Harbin Tianbao Printing Company in February 2005. After learning that Tianbao was selling the domain name on its website, Kingsoft submitted an application to the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission to retain the domain name.

Officials from the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission have now ruled that the keywords and trademark of kingsoft.com.cn are the same with those of "Kingsoft". Kingosft is now granted full ownership of that domain name.

For kingsoft.cn, Kingsoft had previously purchased it from Xiamen Yiming Network Transaction Platform. This incident did not go to arbitration.
