263.net Replaces Communications Service

August 9, 2005
Internet

After complaints about pornography on the E-call service, 263.net has replaced the E-call service with a new product called 263ET.

263ET is an Internet communications tool similar to instant messaging and VoIP services.

With the launch of this new service, 263.net can compete with services like Skype, which offer cross-network telephony that allow computer-based users to telephone landline users. Other services from QQ and MSN are also competing in this sector.

The E-call service was halted recently when consumers complained that the service was being used to transmit sexually-related content on the mainland. However there is yet no indication how 263.net plans to keep the new 263ET service free from the transmission of illegal content.
