A 24-year-old man surnamed Lan has been convicted in Beijing's Xuanwu District Court of destroying the computer systems of his former employer.

Lan was a network administrator at China National Situation Information Consulting Company until he has dimissed in late 2004. On December 17, 2004, Lan apparently changed the domain name server IP addresses for cnnc.info and edude.net, two websites that he held as proxy for his former employer.

As a result of Lan's changes, the websites were inoperable and caused the company CNY1.225 million in losses.

Lan's lawyer believes the estimated company loss is too high and says he is investigating how to re-audit the figures.
