SMIC Set Up JV With Toppan Printing

Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation (SMI) has launched a joint venture with Japanese printing giant Toppan Printing in Shanghai ro create optical sensors for digital cameras.

The new company is called Toppan SMIC Color Crystal Electronics (Shanghai) Co., Ltd.

The company is the first in China to be engaged in producing and selling color filter chips and microscope products used on graphic sensors.
