The China Radio, Film and Television Development Report 2006 shows that by the end of 2005, the digital television user population of China had reached 4.13 million, an increase almost triple that of 2004.
The report says that by the end of 2005, there were 108 paid television channels and as many as 1.39 million users for the paid television programs in China. The total income from the paid television service surpassed CNY300 million.
During the year, five paid channel integrators that were established in 2004 were further combined into three companies: China DTV Media SiTV and Top DTV.
The report forecasts that digitalization of television programs will further increase in 2006 with heightened consumer awareness of digital television.
The China Radio, Film and Television Development Report 2006 is the first annual report of its kind and is nicknamed the "Blue Book" of China's radio, film and television industry.
