Kongzhong.com Invests CNY100 Million On Wireless Internet Portal

Kongzhong.com (KONG) has begun to focus on its wireless portal kong.net and is trying to attract more potential wireless advertising clients.

Nick Yang, CEO of Kongzhong.com, disclosed that his company has started to enlarge investment on the portal, and by the end of this year it will invest about CNY100 million to promote its wireless Internet service, of which CNY60 million will be used on marketing promotions.

In order to catch up with traditional web portals on content, Kongzhong.com has begun to recruit talent from the traditional media sector. So far, it has set up a team of 130 people to prepare content for more than 150 channels and columns on the new portal.

Kongzhong.com is one of the largest service provider partners of China Mobile. It says its income from wireless services exceeds CNY10 million each month.
