Accenture (ACN) has completed the implementation of a new corporate computer system for the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
The large-scale, integrated computer system — the first of its kind for a government department in Hong Kong SAR and the Mainland — is designed to enhance the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of EMSD's service delivery to other government departments and public bodies.
"EMSD is committed to excellence in our service delivery to government departments and public bodies, and through them, to the Hong Kong community in general," said Michael Leung Tsun Ho, Assistant Director/Business Development, Electrical and Mechanical Services Trading Fund of EMSD. "The successful implementation of CCS is the latest demonstration of our commitment in this regard.
The new system will provide the managers of EMSD with more timely and relevant information to facilitate their decision-making, which will enhance the flexibility of resource planning and result in faster, more accurate responses to service requests. Six major computer systems and other divisional databases and systems developed over the last 12 years for EMSD were either consolidated and enhanced or replaced. More than 1,000 users located in various offices across Hong Kong, Kowloon and the New Territories will utilize the new CCS.
"This project went live one month ahead of target despite its complexities, such as the wide variety of functions, the large number of users, and the need to integrate the various clients, personnel and financial data of the department," Leung added. "The successful delivery of this project was made possible through the strong working relationship between EMSD and Accenture."
