In accordance with requirements from China's Ministry of Information Industry, Beijing has already launched the restructuring of wireless service provider codes in the city.

The adjustment work will last eighteen months and end on January 31, 2008.

According to Beijing Communications Management Bureau, the adjustment will involve Beijing Mobile, Beijing Netcom and Beijing Unicom, as well as 300 service providers across the city.

Beijing Communications Management Bureau has established a special team in cooperation with the concerned operators to facilitate the service provider code unification process.

After the adjustment, all service providers for both fixed and mobile networks will use codes starting with "106".
