Verimatrix has appointed Laurence Peak as vice president, Sales for the Asia Pacific region.

Peak will be based in Hong Kong, heading up a multi-country team with offices in Tokyo and Singapore.

Verimatrix offers its Video Content Authority System for the advanced video encryption, key management and forensic watermarking solutions needed to secure content and enhance revenue streams in the regions' pay-TV networks. VCAS content security meets or exceeds the requirements of premium content owners worldwide.

Steve Oetegenn, executive vice president, Global Sales and Marketing, says, "Asia Pacific is a key region for Verimatrix and we are investing heavily to ensure that traditional broadcasters, IPTV licence holders, governments and content producers know how Verimatrixcan address the challenges faced by the networks of today, and those of tomorrow. Laurence has 25 years of experience in entertainment technology and five years of working in Asia, and we know that he is going to be an excellent ambassador for our solutions."

Peak says the number of IPTV subscribers in Asia Pacific doubled between 2004 and 2005 and Verimatrix is the only firm to offer a complete content security solution.

Previously, Peak has held key positions with telecom consultancy Access Point Asia, telecoms equipment vendor ECI Telecom, Shell UK and British Telecom.
