Mobile Phone Special Check Initiated In Shanghai

March 8, 2007
Law & Policy

Shanghai has just initiated a special investigation of the mobile phone market to search for stolen or illegal mobile phones.

Starting March 7, Shanghai Municipal Information Commission and the Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Industry and Commerce are carrying out the special checks and they will focus on finding smuggled mobile phones, regulating mobile phone manufacturer's after-sale services and learning about the after-sales market for mobile phones.

In addition, they will also target mobile phone repair sites, mobile phone trading markets and mobile phone sellers.

In recent years, China's mobile phone trading and repair market has become disorderly with the popularization of mobile phone use. This has led to many unlicensed mobile phone repair shops popping up.
