QDCATV Completes Digital TV Conversion

April 2, 2007
Internet

As one of the first batch of cities that has been testing digital television, Qingdao has just completed its overall digital television conversion.

The conversion now enables citizens not only to watch digital TV, but also to pay their electricity, gas and water fees at home via their TVs. By making use of the digital TV network resources, Qingdao Cable TV has launched a new service called Jia Fu Tong, which can "transform" digital television sets into a home POS machine and enable users to make inquiries about their credit card balances, account transfers and payments.

QDCATV has reconstructed the system and changed the remote control for users free of charge. The company has not announced how many users are currently provided with the system.
