Lenovo (LNVGY) will develop a new Fulfillment Center in the town of Whitsett in Guilford County, North Carolina in the United States.
"Lenovo's new U.S. Fulfillment Center will be a flexible facility capable of handling unique customer requirements such as customized software installation for our North American customers," said Gerry P. Smith, senior vice president of Lenovo's Global Supply Chain. "This facility will streamline and expand our customer fulfillment and distribution capabilities in the U.S., and help position Lenovo for continued growth in North America."
The fulfillment center will support regional customer requirements including product configuration, distribution services, returns management and some light assembly. Lenovo will be creating more than 45 new full-time jobs when the U.S. Fulfillment Center becomes operational in January 2008. In addition, another 85 contractor and third-party logistics company positions are expected to be co-located on-site.
The new facility will be approximately 200,000 square feet when completed and is expected to open in January 2008.
"We are honored to welcome Lenovo, and their new U.S. Fulfillment Center to Guilford County," said Dan Lynch, president of the Greensboro Economic Development Alliance, who helped recruit the company to the Rock Creek Center in Whitsett. "With its North Carolina roots in Research Triangle Park, and reputation as one of the world's leading computer manufacturers, we believe Lenovo is a key part of our strategy to create job opportunities in technology in this area."
