Electric equipment systems provider EMC has announced plans to open a provincial subsidiary in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, the first of its kind in China to provide service to clients in Jiangsu Province and Anhui Province.

This is the first step that EMC has taken in marching into the provincial level cities in China. EMC has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Department of Computer Science and Technology of Nanjing University to provide free courses to the Department and train its faculty, as well as build a student internship base and strengthen exchanges with the school.

The company has also signed a strategic cooperation agreement with two local service providers of Linkage Technologies and Jiangsu Electronic Business Group. According to the agreement, EMC will focus on knowledge transfers and skills training and provide customized solutions and services to clients in Jiangsu and Anhui through cooperation with local partners via this Nanjing subsidiary.

Ye Chenghui, CEO of EMC Greater China, has told local media that EMC attaches much importance to Jiangsu's pioneering role in the information industry of China and it would like to coordinate with the province's authorities to achieve its goal of information development by actively participating in the province's software and information service. In March this year, EMC published its five-year development plan in China and announced plans to add four subsidiaries in China in 2007.
