The Internet has become an important part of informatization systems in China's rural areas and to further promote the development of agriculture and the informatizational construction of villages, the Internet Society of China has set up the Rural Information Service Committee.
This committee aims to promote the informatizational construction and the development of networking within villages; supporting the development and innovation of information and media, which are connected with agriculture; promoting the communication and cooperation between its members; offering directions for developing agricultural network industry; publicizing agricultural policies; managing agricultural products; and popularizing agricultural knowledge.
Hu Qiheng, chairwoman of the Internet Society of China, says the establishment of the Rural Information Service Committee is an important measure for promoting more extensive use of Internet in villages. The effort of the committee will decrease the digital gap,
promote the harmonious development of Internet in the rural areas of China and help villagers enjoy the benefits brought by the Internet.
