The results of China Telecom's (CHA) CNY27.9 billion CDMA network tender has been disclosed and the major parts of the contract have been gained by Huawei, ZTE and Alcatel-Lucent, which received about 40%, 40% and 20%, respectively.
Apart from these three major companies, Fujian Fujitsu Communication Software Co., Ltd. gained the share of China Telecom's short message centers in eight provinces in China.
According to earlier released information by China Telecom, the company will invest a total amount of CNY80 billion in the CDMA network construction over the three years after the restructuring of China's telecom industry. The company has started the first round CDMA network tenders, including core network and wireless equipment. The total value of this tender reaches CNY27.9 billion, of which the tender sum of the business network and the core network, two major parts of this tender, is no less than CNY16 billion.
ZTE gained the contracts of short message centers in 12 provinces, gateways of short message business in 10 provinces and three national platforms, including national positioning, Telephone Number Mapping DNS and ISAG Router. At the same time, the company gained a 20% share of the WAP gateway, 50% share of the MMS center and 40% share of ISMP and ISAG in China's ten northern provinces.
Although it did not enter the short message equipment sector, Alcatel-Lucent gained a 50% share of the WAP gateway, 20% share of the MMS center and 30% share of ISMP and ISAG in China's ten northern provinces.
Huawei gained the exclusive contracts of the national business release center, the national MMS exchange gateway and the national KJava download platform. In the short message equipment sector, Huawei gains the short message centers in 11 provinces and gateways of short message business in 15 provinces. The company also gains over 30% shares of WAP gateways, MMS centers and ISMP and ISAG, respectively.
