Chinese instant messaging and online game company Tencent has announced plans to launch a new talent strategy called "Large platform, great accomplishment" to attract talents in top Chinese companies to enhance Tencent's human resource power.
Following its large advertising strategy launched in 2007, this talent strategy is another important move for Tencent. Xiong Minghua, co-chief technology officer of Tencent, told local media that the company will implement large-scale campus recruitment in the future while attracting more talents from famous multinational corporations in China. At present, Tencent has about 5,000 employees and it plans to hire over 700 new employees through this year's campus recruitment, a year-on-year increase of 40%.
Xiong says facing the ever-serious competition in the Internet sector, talents are the foundation for a company to gain an invincible position. Compared with foreign companies, Tencent will provide more opportunities for its employees to access practical projects.
Over the past year, Tencent has offered many special deals to high-end talents who were formerly working in companies such as Microsoft, Google, IBM, Cisco and Huawei. In 2008, under the leadership of Xiong, Tencent intends to introduce more high-end talents to assist the development of the company.
