Telecom & Wireless

China Mobile Shanghai branch said it will add six new service languages in addition to the current English and Japanese languages of its foreign language call center before the end of 2009.

The six languages will be German, Spanish, Arabic, French, Korean, and Cantonese.

As the 2010 Shanghai World Expo draws near, more and more foreign technicians, experts, and managers from all over the world will come to Shanghai to participate in the construction of the venue. Since the beginning of 2009, the two hotlines of China Mobile Shanghai have received calls from over 40,000 foreign customers.

During the World Expo, up to 70 million visitors are expected to arrive in Shanghai. To provide quality mobile communications services to domestic and foreign visitors, China Mobile Shanghai promises to create barrier-free language service.

In addition, China Mobile Shanghai has launched World Expo English services in 33 business halls in the downtown business areas in Shanghai. The number of such business halls will be increased to over 100 before the end of this year and this English service will be gradually available in all business halls of China Mobile Shanghai. China Mobile Shanghai said currently 31 of its business halls have established barrier-free accesses to provide services to disabled persons. Its English website is also under construction to expand service channels for foreign customers.
