The "2009 Radio, Film and Television Development Report" has been published in Beijing by the State Administration of Radio Film and Television and the report states that China's total revenue from these industries, including financial subsidies, reached CNY166.721 billion in 2008, a year-on-year increase of 20.49%.
At the same time, the population coverage of radio and television have reached 95.96% and 96.95% respectively.
Of the total revenue, revenue from the radio and television industries was CNY135.004 billion, increasing 19.54% compared with the previous year, while the comprehensive revenues of the film industry were CNY8.433 billion, increasing CNY1.707 billion over 2007 and the increase rate was 25.38%.
For advertising income, promoted by the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, China's advertising revenue from the radio and television sectors reached CNY70.175 billion, a year-on-year increase of 16.85%. Of the total advertising revenue, that contributed by the radio sector increased by 10.45% year-on-year to CNY7.223 billion and that from the television sector increased by 17.32% to CNY60.916 billion.
The report also pointed out that China's animation industry cluster has been shaped and animation companies in Hunan, Guangdong, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Beijing, and Shanghai are catching up with traditional Chinese animation makers like CCTV and Shanghai Animation Film Studio.
