Chinese Internet portal Sohu.com has announced the official launch of the new 2.0 edition of its Sogou browser.

Wang Xiaochuan, chief technology officer of Sohu.com, told local media that compared with other mainstream browsers, the new Sogou browser has advantages in the speed of opening pages, videos, and social networking sites.

Of the four core Internet applications in China, including browser, operating system, search engine, and input method, Sohu.com has built services around three — it has yet to build its own operating system. In addition, its input method has gained a leading position in the Chinese market, with nearly 90% market share in the country.

Wang revealed that though the company's Sogou browser claims no more than 5% market share in China, they are confident in the future development of this product and the company aims to gain more market share with the launch of this new edition.
