Chinese telecom equipment maker Huawei Technologies Co. has announced that in will establish a new board of directors in Australia in 2011, and the members of the board are expected to be announced in the following six to eight weeks.
According to the company, the new board of directors will be responsible for the management of its business in Australia. This is reportedly Huawei's first overseas board of directors.
Jeremy Mitchell, person in charge of Huawei's government and public affairs in Australia, revealed that due to the close relationship between Huawei and the Australian market, the company may invite some Australian celebrities to help manage its local business.
Huawei also disclosed that its Australian board of directors will be formed by people with extensive business and political experience; meanwhile, members from Huawei's Australian, regional and global management teams will be included in the board.
