Chinese security software provider Rising has started selling its security software for Android smartphones in Japan at the price of JPY2,980, which is about CNY247, and it plans to team with local mobile phone makers for market expansion in the future.
According to reports in Chinese local media, the Japanese-language Rising mobile security software is developed for smartphones based on the Android system and other editions are reportedly under development. The software is mainly sold via large electronics chain stores in Japan, including Yodobashi, Yamada, and Bic Camera.
Statistics show that Japan has sold 40 million mobile phones in 2011, of which about 20 million are Android smartphones. This indicates large demand for mobile security software. In addition, compared with the Chinese market, mobile users in Japan have smoother access to payment channels, which will benefit the development and promotion of mobile software.
