Chinese software provider Kingsoft has launched its WPS 2012 office software and a mobile edition WPS for the Android system.
The 2012 edition WPS reportedly integrates an email client software and PDF reader for the first time.
Ge Ke, chief executive officer for Kingsoft's office software, said that the new WPS product marks an overall software upgrade. Apart from the realization of full compatibility, it can meet all office demands by adding new functions like an email processor, PDF reader, and a cloud-based Internet storage unit.
The new edition WPS will still be provided to individual users for free. However, corporate users need to pay for the software. The mobile edition WPS will also adopt the pay-to-use model and will reportedly be sold at USD14.99.
Zhang Qingyuan, vice president for Kingsoft's office software, said the launch of the mobile edition is for the strategic development of Kingsoft's WPS. He said tablet computers and smartphones will be the major terminals in the future and the company will focus on the development of mobile edition products.
At present, Kingsoft has launched the WPS office software for the Android system and will start the sales at the end of 2011. The company plans to develop the software for iOS in 2012.
