Microsoft has announced that its application store Market Place will open to developers in China at the end of October 2011.

Simon Leung, chairman for Microsoft Greater China, told local media that Microsoft's application store currently has over 30,000 applications and it will be opened to Chinese developers at the end of this month. By then, Chinese developers will be able to register and submit applications for Windows Phone development on Create.msdn.com. They can establish their brands and earn revenue on Microsoft's platform.

With the opening of the application store in China, Microsoft will also reportedly provide a series of supporting plans to Chinese Windows Phone software developers.

Apple opened its iPhone app store in 2008 and achieved great success. After that, Google and Microsoft launched Android and Windows Phone app stores, respectively. Statistics show that Apple's app store now has more than 500,000 applications; and Android app store has more than 250,000 applications.
