Nokia has announced that it has appointed Gustavo Eichelmann the new head for China, effective from January 1, 2012.
In the new role, Eichelmann will be responsible for Nokia's Chinese businesses, including sales, marketing, and the enterprise service departments.
Eichelmann has over 25 years of working experience in the information technology and communication industry. Joining Nokia in 2004, Eichelmann previously held various senior management positions, including leading Nokia's global retail and channel management in Finland. Prior to the appointment, he was an important member of Nokia's management team for Greater China, Japan, and South Korea. His responsibilities included promoting the company's cooperation with operators in local markets.
Colin Giles, executive vice president of Nokia Worldwide, said that China is the largest market and the innovation center for Nokia. They welcome Eichelmann as the new leader of this market. Giles said Eichelmann has comprehensive business management experience and outstanding leadership; and he is very confident that Eichelmann will bring Nokia's business in China to a higher level.
Eichelmann told local media that he is honored to have the opportunity to lead the Chinese team. He believes that with the implementation of the new strategy of the company, Nokia will provide Chinese users with innovative and unique mobile terminals and experience. It will also create new development opportunities for Nokia China.
