Chinese social networking site operator Renren.com has announced the launch of a new social travel platform Fengche.com, which has already been running for a few months.

Fengche.com is a social networking site that focuses on the tourism sector. It helps users better plan their travel routes, share their interesting experiences during the journey, and spread their travel information to other people who love traveling.

Liu Jian, chief operating officer and executive director of Renren.com, said that the launch of Fengche.com is one of Renren.com's many measures to establish a SNS profitable system. In the future, the website will become a new platform for users to create and share travel information. Depending on the large user base of Renren.com, Fengche.com is expected to form its unique influence in the Chinese tourism market.

In recent years, the Internet tourism sector has become a new battlefield for Chinese Internet companies, and many leading companies in the country, including Tencent, Baidu, Taobao.com, and 360buy.com, have entered this market. Statistics showed that in 2011, the operating revenue of the entire Chinese Internet tourism industry reached CNY9.05 billion, a year-on-year increase of 34%.
