It's ominous in China to give someone a timepiece as a gift, but that may soon be happening as a Chinese software company unveils a new smart watch.

Nut Shell Electronics, a subsidiary of China's Shanda, announced that the company will launch several new products on June 17, 2013, including two second-generation Shanda smartphones, a smart watch, and a mysterious product.

The company did not reveal much information about the mysterious product; however, Gu Xiaobin, chief executive officer of Nut Shell, said the company expects intensive releases of smart mobile devices and consumer electronics devices this year.

The launch of the second-generation Shanda smartphones was decided a long time ago. Nut Shell said on June 17 the company will release two modes of Shanda smartphones. Prior to this, Gu published the pictures of one of the smartphones on his microblog. The second-generation Shanda smartphones will have a 5-inch HD display, 1GB RAM, and a MT6589 quad-core processor.

The smart watch product is Nut Shell's new attempt in the hardware sector, following the creation of e-readers and smartphones. According to previously released information, the smart watch is named Bambook Smart Watch, and adopts a 1G CPU, Android 4.2 operating system, and supports 720P HD decoding as well as multi-screen interaction.

Gu published pictures of the smart watch and further revealed that the new product will have a 1.5-inch display and the same supplier as Apple's iWatch, which is a product that has not yet been fully confirmed by the Cupertino-based company.
