Alibaba Group's cloud computing subsidiary Aliyun and technology-oriented comprehensive education solutions provider Uniquedu have jointly launched an Aliyun university cooperation project in China.

The two parties will work together with eight universities to launch cloud computing and data science majors and specialized courses. Meanwhile, they will open an Aliyun school, which will offer online courses about cloud computing and data science to students around China.

The eight universities include Beihang University, Zhejiang University, Fudan University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Xi'an Jiaotong University, Nanjing University, Wuhan University, and South China University of Technology. They are the first batch to participate in the Aliyun university cooperation project.

Aliyun and Uniquedu will open courses in 100 universities and colleges across China over the next three years. By combining the Internet with education, this project will cover cloud computing and data science education in 300 universities and colleges and aims to train and certify 50,000 cloud computing and data science specialists.

Aliyun's business general manager Liu Song said that with the university cooperation project, universities and students will be able to gain resources from Aliyun, covering cloud computing and big data technologies as well as server resources.
