China Unicom Net Profit Up 79.3% In Q1 2017

China Unicom's financial and operating statistics for the first quarter of 2017 shows that the company achieved revenue of CNY69.005 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 1.9%; and its net profit was CNY862 million, a year-on-year increase of 79.3%.

China Unicom's service revenue was CNY61.426 billion during the first quarter of 2017, a year-on-year increase of 2.4% and an increase of 6.6% compared with the previous quarter. Meanwhile, its mobile service revenue was CNY37.197 billion, a year-on-year increase of 2.8% and an increase of 5.1% compared with the previous quarter.

China Unicom's earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization were CNY20.975 billion, a year-on-year increase of 5% and an increase of 18.2% compared with the previous quarter.

During the first quarter of 2017, China Unicom's active users saw a net increase of 2.443 million, reaching a total of 266.265 million; and its average revenue per user was CNY46.7, a slight increase compared with the average revenue in 2016. At the same time, the number of China Unicom's 4G users saw a net increase of 18.175 million, reaching a total of 122.726 million; and its average revenue per 4G user was CNY73.9.

In addition, China Unicom's fixed-line broadband users reached 76.589 million by the end of the reporting period, representing a net increase of 1.353 million. Its fixed-line service revenue was CNY23.813 billion, a year-on-year increase of 2.5% and an increase of 7.5% compared with the fourth quarter of 2016.

China Unicom said that they will unswervingly promote operating model innovation and transformation and use resources to drive the continued increase of income.
