Ericsson recently announced on its official website that the company signed a preliminary patent licensing agreement with the Chinese smartphone maker Oppo.
The patent licensing agreement covers cross-licensing of 2G, 3G, and 4G technologies of the two companies. Oppo will continue to pay patent fees to Ericsson and the fees are from the major part of the annual sales of Oppo.
Apart from cross-licensing, the agreement between Oppo and Ericsson also includes a series of business cooperation related to 5G projects, such as device test, customer integration, and exhibition event at MWC 2019.
