During the Mobile World Congress 2019, China's ZTE launched its ES600S MEC server, which provides the company with strong neural network reasoning ability in the edge computing sector.
Like cloud computing, edge computing is also a way of data processing. However, unlike cloud computing, which needs to upload the data to cloud, edge computing does not require data upload and it can directly process the data locally.
ZTE's ES600S MEC server carries Intel Scalable processor, Intel Core i5 processor, and Intel Stratix 0 FPGA design. It pushes artificial intelligence to edge and largely increases edge computing processing abilities. Its peak computing power exceeds 7.2 TFOPS, which can realize common neural network reasoning functions.
During the congress, ZTE and Intel jointly demonstrated the application of the server in the visual identification field and it achieved face detection function of 1200 frames per second.
