Market research firm IDC recently published a quarterly tracking report on China's wearable device market, stating that China's wearable device market shipment reached 19.5 million units in the first quarter of 2019, a year-on-year increase of 34.7%.
According to the report, the shipment of basic wearable devices, which do not support third-party applications, increased by 25.5% compared with the same period of last year; and the shipment of smart wearable devices increased by 84.6% year-on-year.
The report also showed that during the first quarter of 2019, China's wearable device market realized shipment of 2.01 million adult watches, a year-on-year increase of 89.4%.
IDC's China research manager Pan Xuefei said that with the mature of wearable device market, the adult watch market will have a broad market growth space and it will become an important link to connect people and things in the IoT ecology. In the future, eSIM, intelligence, and health data analysis will become important trends for adult watch.
