According to reports in Chinese local media, Iqiyi and China Unicom recently reached strategic cooperation and their joint lab for 5G device innovative applications was launched officially.

Based on a win-win concept, the two parties will implement cooperation in 5G network slice, 5G network edge computing, big data, MR/AR/VR, and 4K/8K ultra HD video and establish a 5G device joint research and development center.

China Unicom will provide R&D venue, 5G application related indoor and outdoor testing environment and testing terminal devices; while Iqiyi will provide mixed reality and augmented reality testing environment and testing terminal devices.

In addition, the two parties will play their respective technology, talent, and terminal advantages to promote 5G VR/AR terminal application innovation and verification to optimize industrial value.

At present, Iqiyi has established 5G-related partnerships with China Unicom, China Telecom, and China Mobile to jointly explore more possibilities in 5G plus VR market. In the future, the company will continue to cooperate with various industrial partners to improve VR ecology layout.
