CCTV Teams With Baidu For AI Media R&D Center Construction

China Central Television announced strategic cooperation with Baidu Intelligent Cloud and the two parties will jointly build an AI media research and development center to apply cloud and AI applications in various scenes of CCTV.

The cooperation of the two parties will be realized in three aspects: firstly, they will work together to establish the AI media research and development center; secondly, they will jointly develop artificial intelligent software and hardware products for the media industry; and thirdly, Baidu Intelligent Cloud will provide multiple cloud computing services to CCTV's website, including cloud host, CDN, and security.

Commenting on the cooperation, Baidu's vice president and general manager for intelligent cloud business group Yin Shiming said that currently, AI technologies are able to implement massive rebuilding to media contents in an unprecedented way. CCTV is an authority of the media industry and Baidu Intelligent Cloud is an industrial authority in the AI sector. This is the cooperation between two authorities.

Zhao Lei, deputy general manager of CCTV, said that CCTV will follow the strategic layout of "5G+4K+AI" and continue to increase investment in the AI sector. They will explore new application scenes in new media and media resource data sorting, intelligent content tag, and video content natural language processing.
