July 27, 2021 The Chinese tech giant ZTE is a pioneer in under-screen camera technology for smartphones. The Axon 20, launched last year, remains the only model in the world to include an under-display selfie camera. Now ZTE has introduced the Axon 30 5G, which brings a new generation of under-display camera technology. Not only does the device feature a better screen, but the under-screen camera technology also promises a better image effect than its predecessor. Unlike the Axon 20 display, which could boast just 200 PPI, the Axon 30 display is touted as the world’s first 400PPI under-display camera phone. It is also the first phone with an under-display camera that supports a 120Hz refresh rate. Specs-wise, the ZTE Axon 30 features a completely clean 6.92-inch AMOLED display without punching holes with 1.07 billion colors and a resolution of 2460 x 1080 pixels. The device uses a slim screen aspect ratio of 41:18 with 100% coverage of the DCI-P3 color gamut, combining all the colors in the digital image. The device also comes with DTS: XUltra 3D sound effects that can provide an immersive video and audio experience. Screen controls ZTE also added two new smart screen controls on the Axon 30: Smart Pixel Enhancement Control and Optimized Smart Screen Control. The multi-unit ACE circuit arrangement makes the transition of the camera area under the screen more natural. The 7-layer screen structure, special and more transparent OLED cathodes and high transmittance matrices create better conditions for the camera under the screen. Speaking of camera setup, the Axon 30 is equipped with a large 16-megapixel front camera with a single pixel size of up to 1.12 um. ZTE says it relied on tens of thousands of data sets, through AI deep learning for model training, and finally discovered the revolutionary update to the Proactive Intelligence Algorithm 2.0, which enables users to utilize image quality. even in scenes with darker ambient light. Enhancement technology greatly improves image resolution, thereby improving underexposure and obvious noise issues during shooting, thus enhancing the practicality of the camera below the screen. The camera sample shows a bright outlook, but we’ll have to wait for independent reviews to find out if ZTE has really gotten it right. There are other things that are not seen either As for the processor configuration, ZTE Axon 30 is powered by Snapdragon 870. It is also equipped with UFS3.1 flash memory and supports memory fusion technology, which can use up to 8GB from flash memory as virtual RAM. Combined with the 12GB physical RAM version, this increases the available RAM to 20GB. Furthermore, the Axon 30 is also excellent with its rear cameras. Of its four cameras, the main camera is a 64-megapixel Sony IMX682 sensor that is paired with an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle sensor, a 5-megapixel macro, and a 2-megapixel depth-of-field sensor. At the same time, ZTE Axon 30 also supports Smart Vlog short video recording function, with different built-in smart capture templates.
