Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The competitive map of digital banks in the country seems to be getting busier. PT Bank Syariah Indonesia Tbk (BRIS) will also prepare a super application service (Super App) for the development of digital services. The President Director of BSI, Hery Gunardi, explained that currently the digital banking phenomenon is a necessity. For this reason, BSI as a traditional Islamic bank, will participate in developing digital services while maintaining a network of branch offices. “We adhere to the bionic banking strategy, while maintaining the physical distribution channel but enhancing it digitally,” said Hery at a press conference, Friday (30/7/2021). Hery continued, with the bionic banking strategy, the productivity of branch offices was increased. Meanwhile, less productive offices can be relocated or closed. “Secondly, to increase productivity, we shift simple transactions to mobile. We will encourage it, branches are efficient and transactions increase,” he said. Not only that, from the internal side, BSI also continues to strengthen digital infrastructure such as security, features and system reliability. “BSI also adheres to open banking, interconnected with other banks, we open ourselves to fintech, e-commerce based on sharia principles, we are working on that,” he said. On the same occasion, Director of BSI, Ahmad Syafii explained, currently BSI has fully implemented the digital concept, including through online account opening. “In the future, BSI will continue to innovate to develop a Super App that provides all banking services in one hand, in the form of fund transaction services, financing and social and Islamic services,” he said. For information, the issuer codenamed BRIS posted a net profit of Rp 1.48 trillion in the first half of this year, up 34.29% year on year (yoy), from the same period last year of Rp 1.1 trillion. As of June 2021, the transaction value of BSI’s digital channel has reached Rp 95.13 trillion. The largest contribution came from transactions through the BSI Mobile service, which rose 83.56% yoy. If detailed, during January-June 2021, the transaction volume at BSI Mobile reached Rp 41.99 trillion. This number grew by 109.82% yoy.
