Beijing prosecutors file lawsuit against Tencent over WeChat’s “youth mode”

BEIJING, Aug 6 (.) – Beijing prosecutors filed a public interest civil lawsuit against a Tencent subsidiary on Friday, saying the “youth mode” of the company’s popular social messaging app WeChat does not comply with laws that protect minors. The lawsuit was filed by the Beijing Haidian District People’s Prosecutor’s Office against Shenzhen Tencent Computer Systems Co Ltd, according to a document posted on JCRB.com, a website run by China’s top prosecutor.
